exotics@rtc British Car Day
I drove about 15 minutes from my house outside Redmond to the downtown exotics@rtc car show. Today was British Car day and I was told about 200 British cars showed up, from brand new McLaren's to old Morgans and MGs. Quite a few Lotus cars but no old Elans or Europas. There were few Austin-Healeys but, as usual, I was the only Jensen.
The Queen came to the show with her Austin-Healey and we got to chat a bit about British cars. Actually she didn't talk much and seemed a little stiff but I enjoyed it.
As usual I was so busy trying to explain what the heck was a "Jensen- Cooper" that I didn't have much time to wander around and look at cars.
As far as I am concerned this was the best car in the show; I may be biased. Fast, nimble, fun to drive and beautiful; how could you ask for more?
Met a gentleman who liked my car and knew Byron at VRM (who finished up all the engine work). Just last week Byron did the final tuning on the ECU. He had to dig deep deep into the menu to find that it was running too rich at lukewarm idle. Now it runs like a new car.
Someone brought a Ford GT 40 in beautiful condition, I think it's for sale.
The TR 8 is my favorite Triumph, I thought at lot about buying one before I bought my Jensen-Healey but it was just not quite the car for me.
The owner of a Lotus 7 was raving about what a great track day car it was. There were some American cars too, a carousel of Shelby Cobras, another car I thought about buying but too primitive for what I wanted.
All in all it was a great day if you like cars, and free for anyone who wants
attend. They put on special days for Italian, German, British and (I think)
Japanese cars.
